Dreaming of Warmer Locales

This year, spring is sure late to bloom. The signs are there, but they are shy, melting snowdrifts one day only to be met with a 20 cm more of snow the next. I think *fingers crossed* that we have seen the last of the snow though and we already packed up most of the winter clothing a couple of weeks ago, choosing to bundle up in extra layers of clothing instead as the temperatures drop and rise, drop and rise. The radio keeps saying we are below our seasonal averages and it definitely feels like it.

With the late entrance of spring around here, I was of course, dreaming of warmer locales. Last year in 2012, in January, we were lucky enough to vacation in Hawaii. I decided to look through our photographs and order some so my girls and I can make a memory collage of the trip. While I don’t need 27°C to be happy, it would be great if we could get to the 10 degree mark!

This photo is of Hanauma Bay and what has been the background on my desktop computer immediately after returning from our trip. It is a nature preserve on the island of O’ahu. The bay houses a beautiful reef, teeming with a variety of fish and other aquatic life. Sean swum out much farther than the rest of us and was able to get some great footage of a sea turtle with our underwater video camera. We went here 3 times on our trip and loved every moment we spent there. What an amazing experience it was.

Hanauma BayAnd while I continue to patiently (or semi-patiently) wait for it to warm up around these parts, my daydreams of warmer locales are helping me get through the last bit of this colder weather here.

    • It was an amazing place to be especially given how cold it was back here at home. I’m happy to say that temperatures have warmed up here though and it is officially spring!
